A Cozy Spot For Stellar Southern Food, The Slow Rhode Is Quickly Becoming Rhode Island's Best Kept Secret
Providence has plenty of tasty restaurants and other hot spots to choose from for a date night or evening on the town, but our capital city also has some pretty amazing hidden gems. This doesn’t mean it’s easy to find a seat at The Slow Rhode, a fairly new bar and eatery in the city — it’s a small space, so it’s often packed with hungry patrons. But to most of Rhode Island, it’s an unknown spot.

It was created and opened by Chef Patrick Lowney of Broadway Bistro, who launched the venture with partners James Dean and Patsy Wilson.

However, it wasn't long before the crowds arrived. Also, the west side location has blossomed in recent years, so people who come to the area to visit another bar or brewery are finding it.

The ambiance is cozy and intimate, and the full bar offers an array of creative cocktails and classic concoctions.

The menu is definitely southern inspired, but you won't leave here feeling weighed down.

The menu does change on occasion, but you'll also see some signature entrees that remain the same.

The restaurant doesn't take reservations, so it's best to just go with a date or a small group.

From the first bite of melted pimento toast to the final French fry topped with gravy, you'll be smitten.
When you’re craving a modern twist on Southern food, you can’t go wrong with The Slow Rhode.
