Providence has plenty of tasty restaurants and other hot spots to choose from for a date night or evening on the town, but our capital city also has some pretty amazing hidden gems. This doesn’t mean it’s easy to find a seat at The Slow Rhode, a fairly new bar and eatery in the city — it’s a small space, so it’s often packed with hungry patrons. But to most of Rhode Island, it’s an unknown spot.

It was created and opened by Chef Patrick Lowney of Broadway Bistro, who launched the venture with partners James Dean and Patsy Wilson.
The eatery opened in early 2016, and thanks to its off-the-beaten path location, it stayed a secret for awhile.

However, it wasn't long before the crowds arrived. Also, the west side location has blossomed in recent years, so people who come to the area to visit another bar or brewery are finding it.
The Slow Rhode is tiny, but the team will do their best to accommodate you -- and the trendy decor makes the space seem bigger.

The ambiance is cozy and intimate, and the full bar offers an array of creative cocktails and classic concoctions.

The Slow Rhode is open daily from 5 p.m. - 1 a.m., with the kitchen shutting down at 12:30.

The restaurant doesn't take reservations, so it's best to just go with a date or a small group.
