The Clay Head Trail Offers Some Of The Most Breathtaking Views In Rhode Island
Rhode Island is rich in history, coastline, and cuisine, but it’s not exactly a top hiking destination. That being said, there are plenty of trails in the Ocean State that are definitely worth checking out. Some might even have you believing you’ve left New England entirely.
But for a relatively easy experience with remarkable sweeping views, we recommend heading to Block Island and finding the Clay Head Trail. The views are out of this world.

But even here, and even during peak season, it's possible to find some quiet, secluded spots.

To locate the trailhead, just look for a post marker on the right side of Corn Neck Road about three miles from downtown New Shoreham.

But it definitely makes up for in scenery what it lacks in elevation.

You'll be able to tell you're close when you start to hear the waves crashing.

The top of the trail is where you'll find "the maze," a series of interconnected paths that allow you to wander a bit.

The main trail offers beach access about a quarter of a mile in, so keep that in mind.

The hike is family friendly, and your dogs are welcome to join as long as they stay leashed.
