Out of the 100 covered bridges that span New England, only one of them resides in Rhode Island. And unlike most of the century-old bridges in other states, this one has only been around since 1994 due to the fact that it was a replacement. That being said, the Swamp Meadow Bridge is still an absolute delight, and fall is the perfect time to go take some photos of it.

The Swamp Meadow Bridge is located in the town of Foster.

Hemlock Brook located on Central Pike, and it crosses Hemlock Brook.
To reach the bridge, you'll take US-W 6 to RI-94 S until you find Foster.

And once you're in the area, you'll see plenty of signs for the bridge.
The Swamp Meadow Bridge was originally constructed in the 19th century.

The concept of the new bridge was proposed in 1986, when the the town of Foster decided to build a covered bridge in honor of Rhode Island's 350th birthday.

The current bridge is a 40-foot replica of the original, which is why it looks much older than it is. Unfortunately, the bridge had to be rebuilt about four years after it was finished since someone decided to light it on fire.
There's never a bad time to visit this area, but autumn happens to be an excellent time to check. it out.
