Once upon a time (in 1803), the Samuel Durfee House was constructed in Newport at the direction of an English banker. It remained a private residence until 1998, when it was renovated and turned into the beautiful bed and breakfast it is today. Luckily, plenty of historic details were left untouched, and that’s why walking through this going feels like going back in time.
The Samuel Durfee House was once the residence of the Durfee family, and it was a magnificent structure even in the early 1800s.
In 1998, the Pinho family purchased the property and turned it into the delightful place it is today.
The house was built during the federal period, and you'll still notice some of the unique molding, paneled walls, and wide first-floor floorboards remain.
Breakfast is served daily from 8:45-10:00 in the formal dining room, or on the patio in the summer if you wish. And if you're an early riser, you can enjoy coffee, tea, yogurt and granola until it's ready.
The Samuel Durfee House is the perfect location for a romantic getaway or anyone looking to rest and recharge.
