This Quaint Sleigh Ride Through Rhode Island's Countryside Is A Magnificent Way To Take It All In

If you’ve ever wanted to go dashing through the snow in a horse-drawn sleigh, Liberty Farm in Burrillville, Rhode Island is here to make your dreams come true. This family-owned farm offers sleigh, carriage, and wagon rides through trails around the property, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Liberty Farm is a 46-acre property with a variety of animals, including four draft horses. The farm has long provided carriage rides for private events like weddings. But in 2020, interest in carriage and sleigh rides on the farm itself skyrocketed, and now Liberty Farm is regularly booked for sleigh and carriage rides around the property.

The farm has two teams of draft horses. Billy and Bob, both 14-year-old Percheron horses, are gentle giants who first came to the farm in 2012.

In 2021, Liberty Farm also acquired two beautiful Clydesdale horses, Jed and Chase, who were originally Budweiser Clydesdales. They both served as police horses in Providence, Rhode Island, before retiring and coming to Liberty Farm.

All four horses pull visitors around the farm in carriages, wagons, and sleighs, depending on the weather.

As long as there’s enough snow and the ground is frozen, you can enjoy a charming sleigh ride along lantern-lit trails through the farm. Jingling sleigh bells and snow-softened hoofbeats will be your soundtrack for this magical experience, as you breathe in the crisp air and take in the scenery. Each sleigh ride lasts about half an hour, and can accommodate up to 12 people. Liberty Farm even provides hot beverages, like hot chocolate or apple cider, as an accompaniment to the ride.

When the weather gets warmer, you can always come back to the farm for a carriage or wagon ride and enjoy the springtime greenery. Liberty Farm offers horse-drawn rides year-round.
