Rhode Island has some first rate beaches and everyone has their favorite summertime spot. In fact, our sandy shores are so beautiful that tourists flock from miles and miles away just to take a swim and enjoy the views. But there is one beach that is reserved more for the locals and it isn’t just a summer destination. Rome Point changes from season to season and it offers something special to its visitors all year long.
The John H. Chafee Nature Preserve in North Kingston is also known as Rome Point. It's shoreline on the Narragansett Bay is a state treasure.
