Living in one of the top 5 most populated states in the US means that few remote places remain. While we do have several gorgeous parks, it’s difficult to find isolated sites where we Rhode Islanders can be truly alone with our thoughts. While more than 30 islands can be found in Narragansett Bay off the coast of Rhode Island, one Island stands out amongst the others as one of the most beautiful remote places.

Prudence Island is the third largest island in the bay and is part of the town of Portsmouth.

Though most of Portsmouth is located on Aquidneck Island neighboring Middletown and Newport, Prudence Island stands disconnected in the bay with far less attractions than the rest of the town.
