After college, she chose to trade in her winter boots for slippahs and moved to the beautiful island of Oahu, where she has been living for more than five years. She loves hiking, snorkeling, locally-grown coffee, and finding the best acai bowl on Oahu.
From grand natural wonders to quirky roadside attractions and massive cities to coastal towns, The United States is home to countless incredible destinations. But not all of these spectacular spots are well-known. In fact, many of America’s most remarkable places fly under the radar. Even in our small state, you will find secret gems the rest of the country overlooks. With a quaint New England feel, this coastal community in Rhode Island is easily one of America’s best-kept secrets and you’ll want to plan your visit as soon as possible.
Nestled on the coast of Rhode Island is a section of Warwick and Cranston that feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Providence. This is Pawtuxet Village, a delightful little slice of heaven hidden away from New England’s most popular tourist destinations.
Located at the point where the Pawtuxet River flows into the Providence River and Narragansett Bay, this charming coastal community is perfectly picturesque.
Meandering paths and river views abound in Pawtuxet Village. You’ll find postcard-worthy views around every corner, and you’d be remiss to not bring your camera.

The town gains its name from the series of small waterfalls viewable from the heart of the village. "Pawtuxet" means Little Falls in the language used by the natives of this section of the state.
Pawtuxet Village’s walkable downtown area reminiscent of main street USA is full of creative shops — including jewelry stores, art galleries, yoga studios, and specialty stores — as well as cafes and restaurants.
Pawtuxet Village has worked tirelessly to establish itself as a foodie destination, and once you catch a glimpse of the cuisine offered here, you’ll be blown away.
Find Italian fair, Asian cooking, pizzerias, modern American dishes, pub fare, and more. Anyone with a sweet tooth will want to visit the village’s bakeries, creperies, ice cream parlors, and candy shops. No matter what you’re craving, you’ll find it in Pawtuxet Village.
History buffs will also enjoy spending a day — or a weekend — here.
Dating back to 1638, Pawtuxet Village is one of America’s oldest settlements and is full of history. The town itself was established hundreds of years ago and was once a major shipping port as well as a mill village.
The American Revolution was said to have started here, and it also served as a stop on the Underground Railroad during the Civil War.
