We love Rhode Island’s charming little towns, and there are certainly plenty of them in the Ocean State. Here’s a quaint little town with plenty of history, and once you visit, it will steal your heart forever.
The town of North Kingstown has around 23,000 residents, but its Historic Wickford Village has a charming, small town vibe that can't be beat.
The village is also the birthplace of one of America's most oft-seen but least known artists. Gilbert Stuart was born on this little farm in 1755. His portrait of George Washington is featured on the $1 bill. You can tour the home, built in 1750.
You'll certainly want to stop by Casey Farm in nearby Saunderstown. It's been producing food for the community since the 1700s, and six generations of the Casey family is buried there.
There's always something exciting going on in Wickford Village, from Daffodil Days to Farmers Markets to the Harbor Lights events. You'll want to plan a visit to this little village soon!
For more information, including a calendar of events, visit the village’s website, and follow I Love Wickford Village on Facebook. What’s your favorite thing to do or see in North Kingstown’s Historic Wickford Village?
