Haunted hotels don’t always look like 200-year-old Victorian inns or rickety bed and breakfasts. Sometimes, they look like luxurious vacation destinations that feel warm and welcoming. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think the Newport Beach Hotel & Suites was nothing more than a beautiful place to enjoy a vacation. But if the rumors and tales are true, this is one of Rhode Island’s most haunted spots.
The Newport Beach Hotel and Suites is Newport's finest luxury beachfront hotel.
Thousands of Rhode Islanders and out-of-staters alike visit each year for some relaxation by the sea.
The hotel has everything a guest on a getaway could possibly want: an indoor pool and hot tub, a day spa, a fitness center, complimentary WiFi, and more.
And while the suites appear to be spirit-free for the time being, the historic building is chock full of paranormal activity.

Tools are constantly going missing here, much to the frustration of the maintenance crew. This is the work of a sneaky spirit who likes to prank the staff.
The tools will go missing for days, only to turn up in the exact spot where they disappeared. This has happened too many times and to too many people to be a coincidence. There's also a nasty poltergeist known as The Jester who likes to slam pots and pans together in the middle of the night and throw plates of food from tables. Yikes!
Guests will often complain about their closet doors rattling from the inside, as if someone is trying to get out. Maintenance typically tells guests that it's the vibration from the air conditioning system.
Whether or not you believe in ghosts, the Newport Beach Hotel & Suites is a wonderful place to stay.
