Rhode Island is full of beautiful things to see and fun activities to enjoy. Whether you’re an avid hiker or someone who simply enjoys a great view from your own backyard, if you can’t find it here there’s a good chance it doesn’t exist anywhere! While there are certainly plenty of natural areas to choose from, we especially love the water. From our small, but mighty coastline to the many rivers and streams, those who enjoy a water breeze will surely love it here. The lakes dotting the landscape here are particularly beautiful. But, with so many incredible options found within our borders, it can be hard to choose a favorite. For that reason, we polled our readers on our Only In Rhode Island Facebook page. Compiled here are their choices for the most beautiful lakes in Rhode Island.
1. Waterman Lake, Greenville
The Village at Waterman Lake, 715 Putnam Pike, Greenville, RI 02828, USA
While not huge, Waterman Lake is best known for the fingers and coves that allow for some seriously fun paddling. For those who prefer not to get on the water, Steers Beach offers plenty of relaxation and views. Visit when it's warm out for swimming, but it's great any time of year.
2. Stump Pond, Smithfield

One of the most beautiful lakes in Rhode Island is technically a pond, but that doesn't have our readers loving it any less. Known to be a fantastic fishing spot, this is a wonderful early morning place to explore. There's also a lovely hiking trail that surrounds the area for even more views.
This reservoir is a beautiful place to explore in the fall when the changing leaves are at their peak. Additionally, the area surrounding the water makes for the perfect spot to clear your head. Visit early in the morning or near the end of the day for the most peace and quiet.
Keech Pond is a must-visit for those who love kayaking, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding. It was once a popular vacation spot, but today you'll find plenty of year-round homes. Lucky ducks!
5. Lincoln Woods, Lincoln

Located in Blackstone Valley, Lincoln Woods State Park's lake is a huge favorite among our readers. The water is crystal-clear and the fun that can be had off the water makes things even more fun. Readers enjoy swimming at the freshwater beach when it's warm out and enjoying the woods throughout the year.
Slater Memorial Park offers a fun day out in Pawtucket. In addition to tennis courts and 13 picnic sites, the park has an adorable pond with fountains that are always fun to see. Enjoy some time in the park then sit at the edge of the water to clear your head. Early morning and later afternoon are the ideal time to visit if you prefer less people.
Indian Lake is a favorite, but only for those lucky enough to live on it. This beauty is private, but we couldn't resist including it. It's about 260 acres and can be found near the Narragansett ocean beach area. Visitors can swim, boat, and fish. Those who fish will love that it's stocked with large mouth bass, small mouth bass, and chain pickerel.
8. Roosevelt Lake, Roger Williams Park, Providence
This hidden gem in the middle of the city can be found at one of the most popular parks in the state. Readers love it because the calm and quiet are a surprising benefit of being located in an otherwise bustling part of the state. Look for it near the casino and the bandstand.

9. Wilson’s Reservoir, Pascoag

This is a popular waterway for fishing. Given its small size, our readers report that it's simple and easy to visit. You can get in and get out relatively quickly, too. Additionally, since it's easily overlooked by those headed to nearby Wallum Lake, you might just have the place to yourself.
10. Beach Pond, Exeter

This 30-acre pond can be found on the border of Connecticut and Rhode Island. In addition to the beautiful views, visitors can enjoy boating via the boat ramp. Additionally, this is a popular spot for fishing.
