The Lorraine Mills complex in Pawtucket is a live-work space in a restored old mill. Equal parts trendy and historic, it’s full of artists and artisan food and drink businesses. And as of January 2020, it’s home to Miss Lorraine Diner, which sits inside an old diner car from the Worcester Lunch Car Company. Here’s why you should definitely dine here.

The diner sits inside a fully restored Worcester Streamliner diner from 1941.
This diner car was made by the Worcester Lunch Car Company, which made the first patented diners in America.

This particular diner spent years in Hartford, Connecticut, eventually becoming Squeak’s Diner in Middletown. Squeak's closed down in 1977 and sat vacant for decades.
These days, the diner has been lovingly restored to its original glory, and it's officially open for business again.

The menu consists solely of classic all-American food -- breakfast plates, burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads, and hearty dinner entrees.

It took a whopping eight years to restore this dining car to its original glory, which is reason enough alone to check it out.

Miss Lorraine Diner is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, although they do close between 2 p.m. and 4:30 to prepare. They open at 6 a.m. Monday - Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday.
