Rhode Island may be tiny, but we have so much to explore that it would take years, perhaps even a lifetime, to see it all. A brisk hike is one of the best ways to get to know Rhode Island and all of the natural beauty it offers. Whether you’re an avid hiker or a relative newbie, you’ll quickly discover that this beautiful trail in Rhode Island is a relaxing way to spend an hour or two.
Consider the picturesque Great Swamp Trail, which winds through the Great Swamp Management Area in South Kingstown, more of a long, leisurely walk than a traditional hike.
If you're up for an even longer adventure, keep hiking past the Great Swamp Trail and onto the Worden Pond Trail. It's also easy and runs two miles past the end of the Great Swamp Trail.
Much of the easy trail will take you along tree-lined dirt roads, verdant foliage protecting you from the harsh glare of the sun in the summer.
If you're visiting during the warmer months, lather on the bug spray. Bring it along, too, because it can get extremely buggy along the path and near the water.

In the autumn, the path transforms into a colorful masterpiece, especially if you visit during the peak of the fall foliage.

Don't be surprised if you come across a variety of wildlife, too, including turtles and frogs. You'll likely pass turtles basking in the golden sunlight on sunny days.
