Cabin fever usually sets in at some point during the winter. Once the hustle and bustle of the holidays die down, the days usually grow quieter as we silently count down to spring. Bust that cabin fever before it gets a chance to strike with a visit to this magical winter festival in Rhode Island that lasts for 10 glorious days smack dab in the middle of the coldest season of the year.
Newport leaps alive for its annual Newport Winter Festival, slated for February 17-26, 2023, a beloved winter event that boasts more than 150 events.
All days are chock full of fun, and many of the events are family-friendly, including the Mad Science Show, the Teddy Bear Musical Celebration and Story Time, and the Princess Party.
Adults will find plenty of adults-only events, too, that are perfect for kicking back and relaxing. Events geared toward adults include a Beer Dinner at the Mooring and Polar Pineapples.
The festival generally features ice carving demonstrations, too, so you can marvel at countless frozen masterpieces. (Details for ice carving, and whether it will return in 2023, have not yet been announced.)
Newport Winter Festival is all about delicious food. Sample some of Newport’s best chili as restaurants compete to win the Chili Cook-Off. The Newport Harbor Island Resort hosts Polar Pineapples, where you can enjoy a chilled cocktail from the ice bar.
A full menu of entertainment is planned, too, and features such fun events as the Eagles Experience, the Jimmy Buffet Tribute Band, and Live Music at the Greenvale. You don’t want to miss the beach polo either.
Festival bracelets will also be available for purchase, although a sale date has not yet been announced. Bracelets provide free or discounted admission to festival events and discounts to participating restaurants and shops.
