Jerimoth Hill Is The Greatest Mountain Hiking Trail In Rhode Island For Beginners
Rhode Island has an impressive amount of natural beauty, not to mention mile after mile of gorgeous coastline. But when it comes to mountain ranges, the Ocean State comes up a bit short. But the closest thing we have to a mountain, Jerimoth Hill, happens to have the highest point in the state — and it’s a must-see for hikers who enjoy highpointing. And since it’s less than a mile in length, it’s a great adventure for beginners.

There are plenty of road signs, so it's nice and easy to find.

Years ago, Jerimoth Hill made headlines due to a property owner named Henry Richardson, who prohibited people from entering as the only path to the summit crossed his driveway. Richardson was known as The Madman of Jerimoth Hill.

After Richardson passed away, his property was purchased in 2005 by a family who eventually eded the land to the state. It's now accessible at any time.

The trail is well-marked and easy to follow.

The hill is 812 feet high. In comparison, Maine's Sugarloaf Mountain is 4,249 feet high.

Plus, it isn't every day you get to experience the highest point in any state. In fact, geography makes that impossible for many.
