In a state that’s so wildly popular for its coastal seafood shacks boasting clam cakes and chowder, Rhode Island farms don’t quite garner all the attention they deserve. But true locals know that some of the best food comes from way out in the countryside of our small state. And if you’re craving a delicious homemade pie, then there’s one fruit farm that certainly has exactly what you need.
Jaswell's Farm is the oldest operating apple orchard in Smithfield. It had its humble start in 1899 and more than a century later is being run by the 4th generation of the family.
The farm stand is a foodies paradise. Well-stocked with fresh produce, local eggs, milk, and honey plus jams, jellies, cheese, and more! But even more tempting than the array of farm-fresh ingredients are the scrumptious goods from the Jaswell bakery.
Fruit pies, apple cider donuts, pastries, and muffins are lovingly baked and placed on the shelves daily. If you're not a baker yourself or just taking a day off from the kitchen, this is the perfect place to stock up.
Discover a variety of your favorite pies. From a traditional apple to sweet strawberry rhubarb, there's no doubt you'll want to take more than one home with you.
But if you do enjoy baking your own pies, Jaswell's Farm has the fresh fruit you'll need. Find berries straight from the fields and apples right from the orchard at the farm stand.
You can even pick your own! The blueberry season begins in mid-July and apples follow not too far behind. Bring the whole family for a harvesting adventure.
The farm stand and bakery is open daily from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. starting May 28th and continuing through December 24th.
