1. Wicked Tulips Flower Farm – Exeter

Let's begin our spring road trip through Rhode Island at Wicked Tulips Flower Farm in Exeter. Home to more than 1.5 million tulips, this beloved flower farm welcomes visitors to tiptoe past the tulips and pick their own. You must purchase tickets online before heading to the farm.

2. Kinney Azalea Gardens – Kingston

Wear comfy shoes for your visit to Kinney Azalea Gardens, where you have 16 breathtaking acres to explore. This flower garden in Kingston features more than 500 varieties of azaleas and rhododendrons, some of which frame the stone Moongate (pictured above). As you stroll through this pretty Rhode Island garden, you'll pass a fairy-tale footbridge and plenty of places to sit and soak up the moment.
While you can easily spend a day exploring Ryan Park, if you're short on time, use it to follow the short but sweet 2.1-mile Ryan Park Loop Trail. The easy trail is brimming with wildflowers during the warmer months and has such enchanting features as a footbridge and streams. The park also has a full menu of amenities, including picnic tables, basketball hoops, and portable toilets.
4. Snake Den State Park – Johnston

Our next stop brings us to Snake Den State Park, a 1,000-acre spot that's partially undeveloped and perhaps best known for flower fields brimming with a colorful array of tulips. If you feel like a quiet hike, follow one of the trails, such as the 1.5-mile Snake Den Loop Trails.
Gear up for another leisurely hike at our next stop. Audubon Maxwell Mays Wildlife Refuge features a variety of natural features, including forests, wetlands, and meadows filled with wildflowers. The kid-friendly 3.3-mile Maxwell Mays Wildlife Refuge Loop Trail scores an easy rating. While you'll pass an abundance of wildflowers, you might also cross paths with such wildlife as deer, squirrels, and foxes.
6. Francis C. Carter Memorial Preserve – Charlestown

We'll head to Francis C. Carter Memorial Preserve, the second largest nature preserve in Rhode Island, for our final stop. The 3.6-mile Moraine Loop & Pasture Loop Trail promises an easy and scenic way to explore the nature preserve. While the trail is easy, prepare to deal with some slight elevation changes. As you wander through forests and fields, you'll pass scores of wildflowers and grassland. Keep an eye out for wild blueberry bushes, too.
