Spending time visiting animals is always an adorable adventure and full of endless smiles. While Rhode Island is home to a spectacular city zoo, if you want to visit with exotic animals on a smaller scale, jump on the ferry and head out to Block Island.
Get your furry fix at the 1661 Inn Farm and Gardens. Nestled away on a hillside across from the 1661 Inn, this animal attraction is just minutes away from where the ferry docks on Block Island.
Justin Abrams created the farm for this exotic collection of animals and took joy in having visitors stop to meet them. Since his passing in 2016, his grandsons maintain the farm to the same high standards.
You'll catch sight of many typical barnyard animals frolicking in the meadow. Unique animals like lemurs, a tortoise, yak, camels, and more also live the island life here.
There are also feathered friends, including a gorgeous pair of black swans. This quaint little animal attraction is a must-visit when you're on the island.
Not only can you watch the exotic animals as they meander around the hillside, you can feed them! But watch out, feeding an emu is a ticklish experience!
