Providence’s food scene is second to none, and we can’t wait to enjoy it to the fullest one again. In the meantime, we’d like to shine a spotlight on a restaurant that has been serving many a Rhode Islander what can only be described as elevated pub food for the better part of a decade. If you’ve ever dined at the beloved Oxford Tavern, you know exactly what that means.
Editor’s Note: Unfortunately, this location has closed. However, the restaurant announced it will be reopening in Barrington, RI at 286 Maple Avenue.
The Oxford Tavern is located in East Providence in a simple, unassuming building on Waterman Avenue.
When you're seated at your table, your server will bring you a water glass filled with crispy fried spaghetti in lieu of breadsticks. It only gets better from there.
If you live in the Providence area, you're lucky indeed -- you can enjoy a mouthwatering meal at your own table cooked by some of the best chefs in the city.
The Oxford Tavern’s temporary hours are 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Wednesday – Saturday. See their current specials on their Facebook page.
