When you’re craving tasty tacos and delicious enchiladas, what restaurant do you visit? Here’s a little family-owned gem that serves up Mexican food to die for, and you’re going to want to check this place out soon:
El Rancho Grande is a tiny, little hole-in-the-wall place, but don't miss it - this place serves some seriously incredible Mexican food.
You'll find El Rancho Grande at 311 Plainfield St., Providence, RI 02909.
Maria Meza and her son Joaquin Meza Jr. opened the restaurant back in 2007, and the family has been serving up traditional recipes all the way from Puebla, Mexico ever since.
The best thing about this restaurant is that everything is homemade. Start your meal with some fresh salsa roja and warm tortilla chips, both of which are made here from scratch every day.
Everything on the menu is mouthwatering, from the Trio Enchilada Plate designed with salsa verde, ranchera and suiza sauce to look like the Mexican flag, to the savory, homemade tamales.
The tacos are particularly popular, and you'll see why after just one bite. With fresh, local ingredients and homemade corn tortillas, these tacos just can't be beat.
Don't wait for Taco Tuesday - enjoy these little bundles of deliciousness all week long. Choose your favorite fillings: pollo, asada, carne adobada, carnitas, chorizo, barbacoa, and vegetarian.
The other specialty on the menu is the mole poblano enchilada plate. Three hand-rolled corn tortillas are filled with chicken and cheese, then covered in sweet, spicy traditional mole and topped with lettuce, creama, cotija cheese. These will melt in your mouth.
A portion of all the cocktails, tequila, and mezcal sold here goes to support the non-profit Tequila Interchange Project, which advocates education for sustainable practices in the agave industry. So basically, every time you order a cocktail here, you're drinking for a good cause!
El Rancho Grande is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 11 p.m., and Sunday until 9 p.m..
Visit El Rancho Grande’s website, where you can see the full menu and even get a great tamale recipe! Keep tabs on the goings-on at this little restaurant by following its Facebook page.
