Chepachet was the first in Rhode Island to be placed on the National Register of Historic Places, which happened in 1971.
While the village is loaded with local history, these days, it's a small, quiet, peaceful place... and that's just how the locals like it.

However, for such a small town, Chepachet does have a large number of shops.
The Town Trader is located in a former trading post that dates all the way back to the 1690s.

This 3,300 square foot shop has 22 booths full of treasures. This also happens to be the oldest building in the village.
