Traditions often play a significant role in our daily lives. Our favorite restaurant might be the one we’ve been going to for years. We might visit our favorite amusement park or beach every summer. Chances are, too, we shop at stores we’ve frequented since childhood. This market in Rhode Island, for example, has been a staple for decades, and it’s a meat (and veggie) lover’s paradise.
Founded by Portuguese immigrant Augusto Brigido in 1943, Brigido’s Fresh Market started as most businesses do – modestly. In those early years, it sold fresh meat and produce.
As the years passed, the popular Northern Rhode Island market grew – both in locations and in its product selection. Today, you can visit Brigido Fresh Markets in Pascoag, Scituate, and North Smithfield.
You’ll still find some of Rhode Island’s freshest meat and produce at the neighborhood supermarket. A stroll through the meat and seafood department offers a glimpse at everything from Black Angus beef to fresh fish.
Stock up on all of your favorites – beef, chicken, pork, and lamb. Then head over to the produce section where, during the warmer months, the freshest fruits and vegetables come from local farms.
If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to make a meal, stop by the deli for ready-made sandwiches, salads, and soups. Or stock up on everything you need – cheeses and lunch meats, for example – to make your favorite meals.
Make sure you stop by the bakery, too, where you’ll find a generous selection of breads and baked goods. Your sweet tooth will go crazy for the cookies, cupcakes, and pastries.
