In Rhode Island, there are plenty of fantastic trails to explore. But that doesn’t mean you have to lace up your hiking boots and spend hours on a trek. This short and sweet boardwalk hike is a leisurely walk suitable for all ages and abilities and unless it’s really hot out, you won’t even break a sweat. Yet despite the little effort, you’ll have to put in, this boardwalk trail still has a big pay-off with the incredible views at the end of the path.
In 2013, The The Nature Conservancy in Rhode Island purchased a small parcel of 65 acres in Narragansett. The Whale Rock Preserve protects important habitat for migratory songbirds while giving visitors access to another slice of Rhode Island's stunning shoreline.
Outdoor enthusiasts of all ages can easily navigate the 1/2-mile journey to the shore. You'll feel like you've entered a secret path to reach the Bay views that are always a feast for the eyes.
As you reach the water's edge, the trail continues to the right for another 1/2 mile along the shoreline. Enjoy a beach walk and a boardwalk hike all in one trail!
