While the countdown to the spooky season is long – often months and months – the actual Halloween season passes by so quickly that sometimes we swear we’ve got whiplash. We have so many fun things to do that we really have to schedule our time just right, so we can pack it all in. Even if your schedule is jam-packed, you’ll probably want to add something else – a trip to the best Halloween town in Rhode Island.
Rhode Island’s dotted with charming pumpkin patches and brimming with fun Halloween activities, but one town (well, technically, city) earns top billing when it comes to the best place to celebrate the spooky season: Providence.
Start your celebration with an evening jaunt to Roger Williams Park Zoo for its annual Jack O-Lantern-Spectacular, which runs through the end of October.
Stroll along a winding path that’s all aglow with expertly-carved pumpkins. If you think the view is beautiful from the ground, wait until you see it from the sky. Climb aboard the Soaring Eagle Zip Ride for views that will leave you breathless.
Halloween means a whole lot of hauntings, too, and Providence has got its fair share of real ghost tales. Take a journey on the water on a haunted boat tour with Providence River Boat Company to hear just a few of them.
These haunted boat rides are usually held on Fridays and Saturdays during autumn and throughout the summer.
Experience the paranormal, if you’re lucky, on a walking tour with Providence Ghost Tours. Tours, which last 90 minutes, wind through Providence’s streets as a seasoned tour guide shares some of the city’s most haunted tales.
Do you agree Providence is the best Halloween town in Rhode Island? If not, what town do you think deserves the honor? Let us know in the comments! Autumn also means a traditional trip to one of the most charming pumpkin patches in Rhode Island.
