Autumn’s arrival means so many things – crisp, shorter days; delicious, pumpkin-flavored everything, and a burst of color to an already beautiful landscape. As the color begins to spread across the state, we know we have a limited time to enjoy its majesty. Discover some of the best fall views in Rhode Island when you visit the state’s lone covered bridge.
A visit to Swamp Meadow Covered Bridge offers beautiful views any time of the year. However, there's just something so awe-inspiring about this quaint landmark when it's framed by fall's colors.
Be mindful of traffic and the residents of the home that sits near the bridge. (Don't hold up traffic.) There is space on the side of the road where you can pull over and park.
The covered bridge had originally been built in 1992 to commemorate Rhode Island's 350th birthday back in 1986. Just months after it opened in 1992, vandals burned it to the ground.
Today, the rebuilt covered bridge, under which Hemlock Brook flows, sits as a reminder of a simpler time and is particularly popular with leaf peepers.
