In North Kingstown, Rhode Island, you’ll find an unassuming little shop on Quaker Lane serving up some of the best donuts in the state. This is Allie’s Donuts, a Rhode Island staple that’s been in business for over fifty years. No trip to North Kingstown is complete without a stop here.
Allie’s Donuts first opened its doors in 1968, and since then it’s been offering colorful and delicious donuts in all shapes and sizes – from single-serve donuts to giant donut cakes. The original owner, Frederick “Allie” Briggs, passed the shop on to his daughter, Anne, and this much-beloved family-owned business has continued to be a local favorite. People come from all over the state to stand in line for a taste of Allie’s Donuts. In fact, it’s a rare day that there isn’t a line wrapped around the building, no matter the weather.
Allie’s sells a wide variety of donuts, including plain, chocolate coconut, glazed crullers, powdered raspberry, Boston creme, and so much more. Can’t decide which flavor you want to try? You can always buy your donuts by the dozen or half-dozen, and indulge in a little bit of everything.
The shop is especially famous for its delightful donut cakes. Donut cakes can be custom ordered for all sorts of occasions, and come in a variety of fun shapes. They’re the perfect birthday treat.
