Winter’s beauty can leave us awe-inspired, but that feeling can wear off pretty quickly when we’re couped up inside all of the time. While it might not be a cure-all, we can combat, (at least a little), cabin fever with some time exploring outdoors. Bundle up, bring plenty of water and snacks, and follow the Pinchot Trail, a winter hike in Thornhurst Township in Pennsylvania.
Slip on your warmest hiking boots - or for an adventure of a different kind, your snowshoes - for a scenic journey along the Pinchot Trail, a long one at 22 miles roundtrip.
While the trail rates between moderate and difficult, it is long but can be completed in a little over seven hours, if you decide to hike it in a single day.
Both are considered moderate and can be completed in around half a day. They're an ideal alternative if you don't have a full day or prefer a shorter trek.

The dog-friendly trail tends to be quite quiet in all seasons, so don't expect to run into many, if any, other hikers.
