Roll down the windows, turn up the radio, and hit the road for – destination nowhere. That’s right. This time we’re not headed anywhere in particular. Rather, we’re going to enjoy a leisurely drive down roads that promise us sensational views of rolling hills, farmland, and more. So, buckle up, and journey down the eight roads that boast some of the best windshield views in Pennsylvania.
1. Ridge Road runs near Intercourse. Enjoy spectacular views of the Amish countryside with lush fields and farmhouses as you pass local residents in their horse-drawn buggies.
3. Appreciate the sheer beauty of the Pittsburgh skyline when you drive along Grandview Avenue, atop Mount Washington, which looks over downtown Pittsburgh and beyond.
4. A drive along PA Route 120 promises plenty of picture-perfect moments of forests, hills, and valleys. Drive the 100 miles of the Bucktail Trail Scenic Byway – from Sproul State Forest to Ridgway or vice-versa – for the full effect.
8. Hit the road for a leisurely drive along Route 219. The winding road, with picture-perfect windshield views, meanders through several counties, including Somerset, Clearfield, Indiana, Cambria, and Elk.
Driving in PA certainly has its perks. These spectacular views in Pennsylvania, however, are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Prefer a thrill with your views? Then, click here to read about the 10 terrifying but beautiful views you can only find in Pennsylvania.
