Summer is unofficially festival season in Pennsylvania, and we have some pretty amazing events to check out. One of the most unique, this tomato festival in Pittston, Pennsylvania promises fun for the whole family. The four-day festival is chock-full of activities, so you might even want to visit a few times.
August 17-20, 2023 marks the return of the annual Pittston Tomato Festival. The popular event draws more than 75,000 festival-goers to this Northeastern Pennsylvania town.
It goes without saying that the star of the festival is the tomato, and there are plenty of activities showcasing this favorite vegetable. If you grow tomatoes, enter your best in the Tomato Contest.
But first, you’ll have to choose what category to enter – largest, smallest, ugliest, or most perfect. The epic competition will be held on August 19 at 7 p.m. Your tomato must be registered by 5 p.m. for a chance to win a ribbon.
If you’ve got a little one between two and six years old, consider signing her or him up for the popular Little Miss Pittston Tomato or the Little Mister Pittston Tomato contest.
The laidback completion, in which contestants are asked to wear whatever they would to the festival, is set for August 20 at 11 a.m.
A variety of musical performances are scheduled through the weekend. Among those set to perform are Phyllis Hopkins Trio, Luongo Brothers, and Sperazza Band.
