As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Sometimes the best part of planning a trip, once we’ve decided where we’re going, is pinpointing where we’re going to stay. With the advent of Airbnb, we have so many one-of-a-kind options – cabooses, treehouses, old jails – that choosing might be a hefty (yet fun!) challenge. For the most unique place to stay in Marietta, Pennsylvania, book a stay at The Bank House.
If you happened to drive by The Bank House in Marietta, you probably wouldn't think twice. It looks like a classic house from the early 20th-century, except for the sign that declares it's the "Maytown National Bank."
Originally built in 1910 as part bank-part residence, the former Maytown Bank closed in the early 1970s.
While you're staying in a historic old building, you'll enjoy a slew of modern amenities, including entry to your home away from home with your smartphone.
The Airbnb has street parking, so just pull in right in front of the building.

Step into the living room, formerly the lobby, that's drenched in natural light and an idyllic spot to relax, stream your favorite show, or take a delightful snooze.
Despite its transition to a residence, this Airbnb maintains all of its historic charm, including grand archways that lead into the lone bedroom (once the bank's conference room).
The cozy kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make your meals, including a stove, a microwave, a fridge, and a toaster. Clean-up is simple with the dishwasher.
Before you head out to explore, check out what the host calls the "mini museum." The vault has artifacts and newspaper clippings from and about the former bank.
Earmark a day for a trip to Hersheypark, a must-visit when you're in the area.
If you feel like sticking closer to home, visit the Historic District of Marietta; hike along the Susquehanna River, and grab a bite at one of the town's popular restaurants.
