Slip on your hiking boots or a pair of comfy shoes when you visit Tyler Arboretum in Media, which has earned distinction as one of the United States' oldest and biggest arboretums (a botanical garden with trees).
You'll probably want to plan more than one visit if you want to see all the garden has to offer. Open since 1944, the arboretum spans 657 acres, including 20 spectacular miles of hiking trails.
Tyler Arboretum boasts several exhibits on its expansive grounds, including The Butterfly House. Stop by the Butterfly House for a peek at an array of butterflies.
Bursting with bright yellow daffodils in the spring and colorful wildflowers in the summer, the Meadow Maze features numerous "Discovery Stations" that provide more information about the trees and the flowers.
And you might just be lucky enough to see some of the local wildlife - from deer to turtles. Tyler Arboretum also features a picturesque pond, the American Chestnut tree nursery, and historic buildings like The Painter Library.
