Exploring Pennsylvania always promises adventure. No matter where you go, you can discover something you never knew existed, meet people you’ll never forget, and create lifelong memories. During your journeys through PA, plan a trip to Tunkhannock, a little slice of heaven brimming with breathtaking natural scenery.
Home to just over 1,700 Pennsylvanians, the historic town of Tunkhannock sits along the Susquehanna River in Wyoming County.
Explore picturesque wooded areas along the almost two mile Iroquois Trail. The rail trail, covered with crushed stone, is ideal for hikers, bikers, walkers, and even cross country skiers in the wintertime.
Tunkhannock offers plenty of ways to see its natural beauty. Endless Mountain Nature Center, for example, boasts 11 miles of hiking and walking trails and a slew to do.
Walk along the banks of the Susquehanna River. Enjoy a picnic lunch. Or, snap photos of the butterflies that flutter around the Native Plan Garden. The nature center also hosts nature camps and other events throughout the year.
Keep the outdoor theme going with a trip to Nimble Hill Vineyard & Winery. Stop by the Tasting Room to sample some of the winery's many wines, such as the Runaway Red and the Mango Slide.
A visit to Tunkhannock wouldn't be complete without taking in a film at the Dietrich Theater. Originally opened in 1936, the theater runs current films, international and independent flicks, and the classics. It also hosts a number of film festivals and other events throughout the year.
Celebrate the history of Tunkhannock with townspeople at the annual Founders Day celebration. The daylong celebration every June features vendors, live entertainment, and plenty of delicious food.
October means the Annual Airing of the Quilts, a charming festival highlights by hundreds of colorful quilts. The community comes together to hang quilts - in homes, businesses, and schools - the first weekend of October.
