You never have to travel too far in Pennsylvania to get a taste of some of the best coasters in the country. From the Jack Rabbit at Kennywood Park to the Phoenix at Knoebels Amusement Resort, Pennsylvania’s all about classic and modern coasters. The Thunderhawk Roller Coaster in Pennsylvania also stands among the giants, boasting a long and storied history. It’s officially an international landmark, too.
Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom, in Allentown, beckons thrill-seekers with its many popular rides and attractions. One, however, stands out from all of the rest.
The Thunderhawk earned recognition in 2019 as an International Roller Coaster Landmark by the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE). Only those coasters with historical significance make the prestigious list.
Today, the wooden coaster is going stronger than ever, drawing even the youngest of riders. (Riders, however, must be at least 48 inches tall to climb aboard.)
Whether you climb into the first seat or the last, prepare for a whirlwind ride that reaches speeds of up to 45 miles per hour and boasts an 80-foot-high hill.
A visit to Dorney Park certainly wouldn't be complete without delicious food. From pizza and burgers to hot dogs and ice cream, the park offers a little bit of everything.
Cool off on those sweltering summer days with a visit to Wildwater Kingdom. The waterpark features something for everyone - from the mild to the thrilling.
