Erie is about to get two mighty big – both in size and in reputation – visitors this summer. In fact, you might remember one of them, but her sidekick is new for her second trip to the area. Pull out your calendar so you don’t miss this epic visit, which also happens to coincide with The Tall Ships Erie Festival. It just might be one of the highlights of the summer of 2019.
Get ready for the return of the Giant Rubber Duck, who will make an appearance in Erie during the 2019 Tall Ships Festival. The festival’s set for Thursday, August 22 through Sunday, August 25, 2019.
Of course, the Giant Rubber Duck and her baby promise plenty of opportunities for taking creative photos. The 11-ton rubber duck stands more than six stories tall and takes a whopping four hours to inflate.
The festival will also feature a full menu of activities for the entire family, including dockside views of the tall ships, kids’ activities, live entertainment, and a marketplace of vendors. A beer garden and food vendors will also be on hand.
Admission includes all of those activities. A one-day pass costs $10. You can also purchase a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday weekend pass for $39 or a VIP pass for $119. However, if you want a tour of the tall ships’ decks, where you’ll get to meet crew members, you must purchase a $5 deck tour ticket.
