Surrounded by lush green foliage, which is particularly striking during the fall, the small town general store overlooks an enchanting covered bridge and offers glimpses of the small town it calls home. Few would likely guess that tucked in this historic general store, which dates back more than a century and a half, are some of the very best cheesesteaks and hoagies in Pennsylvania.

Move over, Philly. You may be the home of the cheesesteak, but you’ve got a bit of competition from the restaurant hidden inside Forksville General Store.
Big Mike’s, in fact, has earned props from readers of USA Today, proclaiming it as serving some of the best cheesesteaks in Pennsylvania. However, you really have to try one for yourself. (Spoiler alert: You will not be disappointed.)

Nestled in the middle of the mountains and just a few miles from Worlds End State Park, Forksville General Store - and one of these cheesesteaks - is one for the bucket list.

However, if you’re visiting on a lovely weather day, you’ll definitely want to grab a seat at one of the tables outdoors, nestled under a tree that overlooks the covered bridge and the shimmering creek.
Next up comes a very important decision: What will you order? A cheesesteak is a natural choice, although you have several from which to choose – from the OG Philly to the chicken cheesesteak.
If you're not a fan of making decisions, you're facing a doozy during your visit to Forksville General Store. While the best cheesesteaks in Pennsylvania are the main attraction, check out the tasty starters, too - fried pickle chips, mozzarella sticks, and beer-battered onion rings.
