The Ship Inn Restaurant in Exton first opened its doors in 1796 as a public house (pub), catering to hungry and thirsty travelers along the brand new Lancaster Turnpike.
While much has changed in the ensuing centuries, one thing has remained the same. The Ship Inn has maintained its name during its entire lifespan. Today, it welcomes hungry diners for dinner on select evenings.
Dine in the historic restaurant or order for takeout, the latter of which is a popular option with the ongoing pandemic. Whether you dine in or take out, bring a hearty appetite with you.
The menu’s bursting with flavorful dishes and a generous selection of starters, including fried oysters and crispy calamari. Kennett Square mushroom soup hits the spot on a chilly PA day.
The Ship Inn also features a selection of light meals and dinners. If you feel like eating light, sink your teeth into such classics as the burger, the pepperoni flatbread pizza, or the chicken salad croissant.
For a meal that’s sure to leave you stuffed, try the ribeye steak, the grilled filet mignon, or the Wiener Schnitzel. Jumbo lump crab cake and flounder are also on the menu.
Stuffed? Once you see the dessert menu, you’ll probably find a bit more space for one of the decadent desserts – old-fashioned apple pie, warm chocolate cake, or strawberry shortcake.
