Sometimes when we think of a boardwalk, we think of a bustling strip of shops and restaurants nestled along a sandy shore. But did you know there’s a boardwalk in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania that’s a little bit different? It boasts some of the best views of the city skyline, making it a must-visit at least twice – during the day and at night.
Marvel at some of the most breathtaking views of the Philadelphia skyline when you stroll along the 2,000-foot Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk, a popular destination during the day and when the city glistens against the nighttime sky.
The picturesque boardwalk spans from the South Street Bridge to Locust Street, where it connects with the Schuylkill River Trail, a 30-mile trail that travels to nearby Parker Ford.
However, if you don’t have time for a significant hike, you’ll get plenty of exercise and enjoy some of the best views in Philadelphia from the Schuylkill Banks Boardwalk.
One of the highlights of the Philadelphia boardwalk is the four scenic overlooks that provide sweeping views of the city and the surrounding landscape.
Each overlook features benches. Spend some time fishing; reading a good book, or even enjoying lunch. (Just remember to take out what you bring with you.)
Evening is a popular time for drinking in the views of the shimmering skyline. The boardwalk is lit with solar-powered lights, so you won’t have trouble navigating the area.
