A leisurely drive – windows down, wind whipping through our hair, and our favorite music on the radio – can sometimes be just what we need to get away from it all. However, not all scenic drives in Pennsylvania have to take all day, eat up a lot of gas, or even rack up the miles on our cars. This scenic drive in Pennsylvania, for example, is short, sweet, and promises some of the prettiest landscapes in the state.
While you don’t need all day to drive along the stretch of 590 that will take you from Greeley to Hamlin, you can make a day of it. Pull over and explore one of the small towns along the route, or just grab a bite at one of the restaurants.
The stretch of PA Route 590 from Greeley to Hamlin meanders less than 35 miles and, without traffic or stopping, will take less than an hour. Much of the road travels through rural areas.
Sometimes wandering off-the-beaten path has its own rewards. If you’re up for a bit of an adventure, pull over when you reach Lackawaxen, home to the Zane Grey Museum.
Take a guided tour if you’re a fan of Grey’s work.
Route 590 also passes by the darling small town of Hawley. For a unique dining experience, stop by Glass, a restaurant tucked within the Ledges Hotel. (The hotel overlooks a beautiful waterfall.)
Continue your journey that will lead you past Lakeville and end in Hamlin. Stop by one of the restaurants in Hamlin that dishes up Italian, American, and hearty sandwiches.
