How lucky are we to live in Pennsylvania, a state that’s brimming with things to do and places to explore? Just when you think you’ve seen and done it all, surprise! You’ve got something new to add to your bucket list. Like this hiking trail that crisscrosses through one of the state’s most historical parks. Slip on your hiking shoes and explore this picturesque trail that includes an incredible ruin in Pennsylvania.
History whispers throughout Valley Forge National Historical Park, the former winter encampment of General George Washington and the Continental Army in 1777-78.
But, not all spots have completely survived the passing of centuries. Embark on the Horse-Shoe Trail, a 140-mile hiking trail that crosses through Valley Forge National Historical Park.
Snap photos of the ruins, which still boast some walls and frames where windows once sat. Colonial Springs also runs through the bottling plant's remnants.
After you return from the ruins, explore more of the park. Head out on other hiking trails. Tour the park by trolley or by car. Or, spend time viewing the artifacts at the Visitors Center.
