Homemade’s always best – whether it’s a Sunday meal, a delicious dessert, or a handcrafted beer. Most of us would probably agree with that sentiment, right? Well, beer lovers might also agree that nothing quite compares to farm-brewed ales and lagers. If you’ve never had a farm-to-glass beer, you don’t know what you’re missing. And, the best remedy to that is a visit to this rural farm brewery near Pittsburgh.
Put on your favorite tunes for the journey to Sprague Farm and Brew Works, an authentic farm brewery in Venango, just over an hour and a half from downtown Pittsburgh.
Tucked in a rustic dairy barn on 65 lush acres near French Creek, Sprague Farm & Brew Works produces "estate" beers that are "unfiltered and keg conditioned."
And, try one of the farm brewed beers, such as the Rustbelt, an amber ale, or the Fighting Schotoberfest, a malt bomb. Even better? Beers on tap will change every time you visit.
Meet some of the resident cats. That's right. Around 15 cats, at last count, reside on the farm, mingling with guests and providing plenty of entertainment (as only cats can).
