Exploring Pittsburgh is an ideal, fun way to spend a few hours any time of the year. Fortunately, we have plenty of trails to hike – both within the city and in the surrounding suburbs. Choosing where to hike next might be, in fact, your biggest challenge. Next time you’re up for a hike in Pittsburgh, set off on Panther Hollow Trail.
Feel as though you’re deep in the woods without leaving the city when you hike Panther Hollow Trail, nestled in Schenley Park in Oakland.
Bring your dog along for the adventure, too, on this dog-friendly trail that requires all dogs to remain leashed. Even if you don’t bring your pup, you’ll still have some furry and feathered company along the way.
Climb the stairs for spectacular views of the lush green below. However, if you’re visiting after a rainfall or a snowfall, be careful on the stairs and on the path, which can get quite slippery.
Along the trail, you’ll cross flowing streams. You’ll also come to the Eliza Furnace Trail. If you’re up for more hiking, continue on the nearly six-mile trail that will take you through the city.
Where is your favorite place to hike in Pittsburgh? Let us know in the comments! We all know that some of the best views of the city skyline can be seen from high atop Mount Washington. Set off on the 2.3-mile Emerald View Trail, which offers stunning views of Pittsburgh.
