Okay, yinzers. Time to ‘fess up! How many times have you unwittingly broken the law? Maybe you’ve jaywalked to get to your destination faster? Or, perhaps you didn’t even realize you broke the law because, well, the law is so obscure and so absolutely ridiculous. Here are 10 laws every Pittsburgher may (or may not, as some of the laws are really out there) have unknowingly broken at least once.
1. No cutting corners when you clean! After all, it’s illegal for you to hide dust and dirt under the rugs in your home.
3. Bring the fishing rod along when you go fishing because you’re breaking the law if you use your hands or any other part of your body – except your mouth – to catch a fish.
9. Driving down a lonely country road at night? Sure hope you have a sufficient number of rockets with you. After all, you must stop every mile, shoot a rocket into the sky, and sit around for 10 minutes, so livestock can leave the road.
10. Next to the rockets in your trunk, be sure to keep an assortment of blankets. That way, when a group of horses passes by, you can follow the law by pulling over and covering your car with the blanket that will best help you blend into the background.
So, how many of these laws would you say every Pittsburgher has broken at least once? Probably not many. But, it’s kind of fun to see some of the outdated laws that still remain on the books, huh? Want more? Click here to read about 10 other crazy laws here in the Burgh.
