You’ll only find one named waterfall in Pittsburgh, which means traveling outside of Allegheny County to see some of the most majestic waterfalls near Pittsburgh. In fact, you have quite a few waterfall hikes near Pittsburgh from which to choose. For an epic adventure, head to Ohiopyle State Park. There, you’ll find the Meadow Run Trail. It leads to two waterfalls – Cucumber Falls and Ohiopyle Falls (both require just a short walk) – AND to a natural waterslide. Slip down the waterslide to stay cool during the summer. If you’re up for a challenge, follow the Slippery Rock Gorge Trail. It’s long at 14 miles and can be a bit treacherous. However, you’ll be rewarded with absolutely jaw-dropping views of a gorgeous waterfall. Plan a day trip to Beaver Falls, where you can visit two waterfalls. Meander along the path at Sahli Nature Park that leads to a beautiful cascade then drive around 10 minutes to Buttermilk Falls. A 10-minute walk will lead you straight to the tumbling waterfall. You can walk behind it or take a dip in the cool water during the hottest months of the year.

Definitely bring your camera along as the trail wanders through lush green, past a beautiful flowing stream, and over a footbridge. The highlight, of course, is the waterfall.
