Pittsburgh boasts some pretty amazing attractions. Whether we’re in the mood for action-packed adventure or a leisurely afternoon, we can find something that fits the bill in the Burgh. Take this contemporary art museum, for example, which just might be the most unique museum in Pittsburgh. Next time you have a few free hours, stroll through the museum that houses an inspirational collection of installation art.
Embrace the world of installation and performance art at The Mattress Factory, a unique museum that first opened in Pittsburgh in 1977.
Selected artists are invited to the residency program at The Mattress Factory each year. Those artists spend between a week and eight weeks at the museum, to create an installation piece.
And, you'll probably find plenty of installations that just resonate with you. Cat parents (or if you have a dog, a bunny, a bird, or another type of pet), does the scene below look familiar?
After you've explored the museum, stop by the gift shop, where you can purchase a membership to the museum. Or, pick up souvenirs to commemorate your visit.
Click here for official website of The Mattress Factory. Or, go here for Facebook.
