Mount Washington Tavern, a tavern built in the 1830s, now serves as a museum. Visitors to the museum tell eerie tales of hearing heavy footsteps from above when no one is there, of smelling traditional tavern food wafting in the air, and of the lingering scent of recently discharged gun powder. Several visitors, in fact, have told of seeing the apparition of a baby in a cradle in one room.

Don't be alarmed if books spontaneously fly off of the shelves at the Connellsville Carnegie Free Library, a majestic century old building that just happens to sit over a cemetery. Local legend says that even though the bodies in the cemetery were relocated prior to the library's construction, people believe they remained buried under the library. You just might hear footsteps from above when no one is there and see the apparitions of a man and a woman.

Allegheny General Hospital has seen plenty of death during its history.
