Now that we’ve fully settled into winter, with its consistently gray skies and threats of snow, the days can sometimes drag on. Some of us are already counting down the days until spring. Fortunately, winter brings with it some treasured traditions – like Ligonier Ice Fest Near Pittsburgh, and it’s right around the corner.
Clear your calendar for the weekend of January 23-24, 2021 for the 30th Annual Ligonier Ice Fest right in downtown Ligonier, about an hour from downtown Pittsburgh.
The highlight of the weekend will be, of course, the intricate ice carvings that dot the downtown sidewalks. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, live ice carving will not be on the schedule for 2021.
Regardless, you’ll definitely want to take a leisurely stroll around town to admire the dozens of ice carvings. If you can’t make it during the day, you can catch them in the evening when they shimmer with lights.
The winter festival will also bring back some of its most popular features, including horse and carriage rides around the picturesque town. (However, rides are weather-permitting.)
You can grab some freshly-made kettle corn to enjoy as you meander through town. The local fire department will also have such classics as burgers and hot dogs for sale.
Ligonier boasts a full menu of quaint shops and charming restaurants you’ll definitely want to check out during your visit. Some shops will even have special sales.
