Let’s go to the beach, Pittsburgh! Sure, we might not have a beach right on our doorstep. We’re still within an hour or so, however, of some pretty spectacular sandy beaches. Recently, we journeyed to a spectacular 1,200-foot beach at Laurel Hill State Park. Today, we’ll make our way to the second longest beach near Pittsburgh for a day of fun in the sun.
Pack all of your beach gear, and pile the whole family in the car for the 45-minute drive from downtown Pittsburgh to Moraine State Park in Portersville.
Bring a picnic lunch or buy delicious goodies from the concession stand, which is open seasonally from 8 a.m. until sunset. Then find a spot to eat at one of the picnic tables on the grass or on the deck.
