What’s one of the very best parts of summer? Why, all the fresh fruits and veggies just picked from the garden, of course. Nothing quite compares to salad made with fresh romaine lettuce. Or, scooping into a juicy watermelon, right? Pittsburgh’s ripe with outdoor farmers markets all summer long. But, the rest of the year? Well, there’s one incredible indoors farmers market in Pittsburgh that’s open every Saturday all year long.
Are you one of the Pittsburghers who has made the Farmers Market Cooperative of East Liberty a regular Saturday stop?
The indoor farmers market first opened on July 5, 1941. Since then, it has become a fixture in the Pittsburgh community, opening every Saturday morning.
The only year-round, indoor farmers market in the Burgh, the Farmers Market Coop hosts a variety of vendors. Kistaco Farm, for example, sells a range of fresh produce, from lettuce to blueberries.
Of course, you'll also find plenty of other goodies. Indulge in Better-Maid Donuts. Or, pick up Mrs. Jones Multi-Purpose Sauce for your pasta or pizza.
