Celebrate Halloween With A Streetcar Ride Near Pittsburgh

Halloween might look a bit different this year, but that certainly doesn’t mean the kiddos, or we, have to miss out. The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, in fact, is making it easy to celebrate the season with a special streetcar ride near Pittsburgh this Halloween. The Harvest Trolley leaves the station at a variety of times on the spookiest day of the year.

Just a half an hour from downtown Pittsburgh, the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum in Washington will host a Harvest Trolley throughout the day on October 31, 2020.

Because of the ongoing pandemic, the museum's annual Pumpkin Patch Trolley, which typically runs throughout October, has been canceled. In its place the Harvest Trolley and a special Storytime Trolley will run.

If you've got little ones, sign up for the Halloween Storytime Trolley, which runs at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Halloween.

The family-friendly event will feature a fun Halloween story followed by a ride on the trolley. Space is limited to just 25 guests, so be sure to reserve your tickets early.

Families with older children or adults visiting the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum can set off on the Harvest Trolley, with departure times at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 3 p.m. on October 31.

In addition to the trolley tour, which offers views of the painted landscape, you'll also learn about the important role that streetcars once played in Pittsburghers' lives.

If you can't make it to the museum on Halloween, check out the special Fall Theme Fridays, set for October 16 and 30. The theme for October 16 is Yinzers Trolleys: Transit of Western PA.

The Halloween Eve theme will focus on what happens to streetcars once they retire.

Those who are unable to make it to the Pennsylvania Trolley Museum can still get involved. The museum is also hosting virtual events, via Zoom, on October 9 and 23, 2020.
