Let’s have a little fun today, Pittsburgh! While we have plenty to do outdoors all year around in the Burgh, we’re sometimes stuck indoors – when the temperatures dip well below zero or they soar to sweltering heights in the summer. Fortunately, we can still find plenty to do on those days when the weather just doesn’t cooperate. Cure your cabin fever before it even hits by heading to this indoor park in Pittsburgh that promises plenty of fun and action for the whole family.
Bundle the whole family into the car for a few hours of non-stop action and fun at Fun Slides Carpet Skatepark in Wexford.
If you've never skated on carpet before, expect a little bit of unsteadiness on your feet. (When you get your "skates," you can get a quick lesson in how to skate down the slides from one of the staff.)
Start small or go big. You have plenty of straight and curved slides to slide down. (Kids eight and younger must wear a helmet. Bring your own, or rent one from the skate park.)
But, Fun Slides is about more than, well, slides. Play a vigorous game of dodgeball with other skaters. Or, join a lively game of hockey in the miniature indoor rink.
Love a good challenge? Pretend you're on American Ninja Warrior when you go through the timed Ninja Course that includes a climbing wall and other fun challenges.
All that non-stop action will probably make you a bit hungry and thirsty. Find a selection of snacks - from pizza to ice cream sandwiches - that will help re-energize you.
And, if you prefer to just relax with a slice of pizza while the rest of the family plays, find a seat at one of the tables or in the bleachers, where you can watch the action or connect to the park's WiFi.
